What is RiffaMania? Well, let's go back to when I was 10 and fell in love with World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) and World Championship Wrestling (WCW). I was in my friend's backyard trying stunts of my own and consumed with finding the right intro music. A few years after that, 26 to be exact, In June of 2017, I dreamt of a live comedy combat show-experience that entertains fans in much the same way WWE does. I maintain that through commitment, consistency, and 'cwality' I could build a cult-classic right here in Fort Worth. I pitched to a group of friends and curious allies 7 months later in 2018 and began the mountainous task of creating a semi-episodic live comedy show experience with a shoestring budget and an idea that few "got".

 

Instead of body slams and metal chairs, there are punchlines and clever quips. Instead of one mic and a quiet audience, there's raucous energy from the floor and a team of hilarious costumed performers. Improv comedy pros "battling" to win single dollar bills from the audience. Good guys, bad guys, whacky plots, bad puns, extreme language, shocking surprises, 80's rock-n-roll and cherry red-Camaro levels of "hell yeah", dancing, rubber chickens, fake outrage, local color, would act as ingredients in what I wanted to produce. I was beyond excited to do something significantly different from other happenings in Fort Worth. By using my branding and artistic expertise and a nose for laughs; I knew I could pull it off. I knew from my previous experiences that I could accomplish something awesome in the name of comedy with some of my most trusted friends and some of the most talented comedians in North Texas.

Moving from Longview, Texas to a downtown center such as Fort Worth, the 12th largest city in the nation, full of creative and talented people that were not afraid to get on stage and create art for the community was intimidating to me. Luckily, I met people like Tony Diaz and Nick McClanahan who were no strangers to pulling people together to laugh or Rock-and-Roll. Blessed to meet industry pros like Warren Cook and Holland Sanders who, for me, pioneered taking their skills and creating something that makes them truly happy. Happy that my employers Jeff Langhammer and Blake Hooser treat me like family and have provided so much support so that I can lead RiffaMania.

I am a natural-born performer with a dedication to comedy but professionally I have honed my skills as an art director and creative marketer of other people's passions. RiffaMania is my magnum opus and I apply all my expertise in brand design, performance, connecting to others, art direction, and my own weird self to make RiffaMania grow and become a Fort Worth cultural phenomenon (albeit underground rated-R event) - a show like no other.
